Being a stay at home mom is the most rewarding way to live life. However, one of the hardest things about being a stay at home mom is not financially contributing bothers a lot of moms.

For me, I used to work 80+ hours a week on 12 hour night shift in trauma/life flight. It was a job that required every minute, no down time, and you had to not miss a beat. Constant up and down, constant craziness, and an emotional rollercoaster to say the least. I went from that job to 100% stay at home mom in a blink of an eye. I wouldn't trade it for anything and I am so blessed I have been able to take home and raise my kids the way my husband and I prayed for.

But at times I lost who I was as me, aside from momma and wife. So it was hard for a while for me mentally within myself. There were times I felt worthless, and unable to do anything but take care of everyone. Thankfully I have major support from my husband and we started brainstorming ways I can help feel better and do something aside from taking care of everyone and our home during the evening when everyone was sleeping.

So here are some ways you as a stay at home mom, can financially contribute to your family while not lacking as a mom or wife.

Ways to make money as a stay at home mom

You have probably heard this before. Blogging is a really great way to make money with talking about things that interest you. By writing about things that interest you, it really isn't work. It is fun and you get to think creatively. It takes a lot of hours to perfect your blog. It does take sometime to figure out the formula to get readers to your site, but once you research enough and execute your formula, you will be making money as you sleep literally. The nice thing about blogging is that not only can you make money, but you help those around the world with your posts. Here is a great book of knowledge that walks you through blogging step by step.

There are so many virtual assistant jobs out there of all kinds. You can help an executive of a company schedule appointments, write articles, organize their clients, make phone calls, etc. by never leaving your home. I actually have a family member who is a virtual assistant from home and it is so nice they have the freedom to do what they need to do at home and for their family throughout the day while still making money. Indeed, Ziprecruiter, Fiver etc. all have job openings posted daily looking for virtual assistants. Just make sure you do your own research on the company to make sure there are no scams.

Depending on what state you live in and what laws are in place, you can run a small childcare center within your home. Each state has their rules so make sure you look those up so you know if you're in violation or not. So this is helpful because you are getting paid to watch another person or persons child or children. You are already doing this for your own so all you do is add these children into your everyday routine with your children. Everyone eats together, reads together, plays together, etc. It takes a lot of energy to run around with littles all day, but if you're home and you can earn some money, then it might be the right fit for you!

So this one is fun, but does take a lot of work. I have had my Etsy shop for about 3 years and it took me a good year to figure out the formula to getting customers to my shop and making purchases. However, once it started coming in with orders it really came in. The biggest thing about this option, is that you have to find a niche and stick to it. You want a very cohesive shop and that way customers know what your shop is primarily for and will remember your shop in the future.

This option is not consistent, however it can give you some cash flow. All you have to do is go through your home, choose sometimes that you no longer want. Instead of throwing it in the trash, try selling it on marketplace. Just be careful when giving your item to someone. Always have another person with you and meet in a populated place to give your items. This helps you declutter and also make some side cash.

This option is a great! Keep in mind however, you cannot just pick up a camera and start clicking. You have to do your homework, get demo photoshoots, and build your cliental. The best way to continue making money is to have clients reuse you for their photo needs. Establish great relationships with those you take photos for that way they will rehire you again. This is a nice option because you can schedule your sessions on your time and edit on your computer from virtual anywhere. I personally love taking photos for my clients and it has brought in a lot of extra cash without running into my family time. I have done so much research on cameras I want to share those with you so you have a starting place.

Baking is definitely an art! You have to practice to get good at it just like anything else. However it is a very rewarding and fun job/hobby. I started baking about 5 years ago and I have generated great relationships and made some really great sweets. You do get more money with creativity and it is a great side hustle! It is a great way to get creative and showcase your talents!

As a stay at home mom it can be hard to find yourself again after having kids. But I am here to tell you not to give up on the you that is still inside there. You can find your niche. You have to just believe in yourself, not give up, and learn about yourself. It can get uncomfortable trying to get to know yourself and you might hit some roadblocks, but once you break through your own walls you will find it. Also remember, you might juggle a few of these ideas like I do. I started out clueless when I started to want to work again because I put all my eggs in one basket and never thought of doing anything but medicine. But now, I couldn't imagine doing anything but being a wife, momma, and a jack of all trades!

Good luck ladies! You got this!
