Breastfeeding, to me, is one of the most rewarding accomplishments that the female body can do (second to giving birth of course). Breastfeeding is not easy. For some it can be really easy, but for others it really takes a lot of focus, strength, support, and guidance. Each baby is different too. Maybe your first was really good at latching, but your second won't latch for anything. Each baby it is different so if breastfeeding your first didn't work, don't get discouraged and try again with your second and so on. Breastfeeding is a beautiful thing, and it not only feeds your baby the best nurtients, but it also helps heal momma back up after birth. Breastfeeding promotes contractions in the uterus, thus helping it heal right back up.
In this article I will be sharing different breastfeeding products that have helped not only me but millions of women around the world. Please consult with our physician about any of your breast-feeding needs and concerns.
I swear by this product. For me pumping with an electric pump was really hard. My body just wouldn't respond even though I had so much milk. The second I tried the Hakka, I pumped 4+ ounces on one side in less than 5 minutes. This was the only pump I used and I was able to pump 50+ gallon bags of breast milk for all of my babies. It is crazy how affordable this pump is and how easy it is to wash. There are no little parts, it is all in one. With every baby we have, we buy 3-4 of these and use constantly. like I said, it is the only pump I ever used for all of my kids. The most I pumped in one 20 minute sitting was 18 ounces! Give it a try!
Before you try Munchkin Milkmakers Lactation Cookies make sure you consult with your doctor and pediatrician about these cookies just to make sure they are okay with them. Okay so these cookies really help promote milk production. Sometimes if you get too stressed, traveling, away from your baby, or you milk supply simply drops, these cookies really do help bring your supply back up. They come in multiple flavors and a lot come in a box (chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, salted caramel). They taste good (I am a very picky eater and I liked these a lot). Toward the end of my breastfeeding with my children when my supply was dwindling, I ate one in the morning and I was good for the day and still pumped extra with my HAKKA!
The Medela Freestyle Flex Breast Pump is one of the best Brest pump designing companies. They have been around a very long time and I have bought a lot of their products and have never been disappointed. These pumps work really well with its pump to touch and USB rechargeable battery. It is very quiet which is really nice especially if you have to pump around the baby when they are sleeping and of course when you need some piece and quiet. It is nice for moms on the go because it is small enough to take anywhere and is rechargeable.
This pillow is great for all breast-feeding mommas. It can be adjusted and baby can lay comfortably in all positions on it. It is also wide enough for the baby to fit comfortably next to you. It has a little pouch for your water so it is close in reach during feedings, and comes in so many different patterns. The cover is removable and washable which is a really nice perk. It alleviates strain in your back, arms, and neck and allows you to relax while feeding your precious little one. This is a great item to add to your baby registry, my Brest friend.
Nursing Bras, to me, are the most comfortable bras ever. I will not be going back to any underwire bras anytime soon after spending months in these. I started wearing them even in my 1st trimester with my 1st baby and I never have stopped wearing them. Having a great supportive nursing bra is so important during this process. Having quick access for your baby's feeding needs is key to their happiness and your sanity. These bras have access hooks in the front and allow for privacy if feeding in public. These come with extra extenders in the back so you can adjust as your body does. They come in a 5 pack and have multiple colors in each pack.
These nursing covers are amazing. They have dual purpose which, to me, is amazing for any product. Not only are they soft, and stretchy, but they really help with privacy both when you are breastfeeding and when you cover the carrier. There are 8 uses for these and let me tell you, I have about 6 and I still use them even after breastfeeding my kids each for a year plus. They can be cleaned by your washer at normal wash instructions and also dryer! These privacy covers really do a nice job protecting your baby from the sun, germs, and rain. These make a great gift and are so helpful when you least expect it. Never leave alone with child always use with parental supervision making sure the baby has enough airflow.
#7 Support
Having support from your husband, fiancé, boyfriend, friends, and family is such a huge factor in successful breastfeeding. Having all the loved ones you have on board with this adventure with your little is truly a team effort. Not only is it team effort between you and your little, but also with your loved ones who help care for you and the baby. When you feel like giving up, your friends and family can encourage you to continue for you and your baby. They also are there to help keep you calm and happy which helps baby be calm and happy. Keep your support system strong and communicate with them so they can help you and your baby during this breastfeeding journey.
I hope some of these tips will help you be successful in your breastfeeding journey! Just know you are an amazing mom and you can do this!
